๐ซง Chip resides in a decorative pond like most koi. It used to be a small freshwater lake, but the castle was built up around it. The first Emperor could not bear to completely demolish the area, so instead asked Chip and her sisters if she would be alright with him placing his home around them.
Chip agreed, but they had some demands:
A waterfall, water circulation system, smooth stones, increased space, and better aeration (bubbles in the water.)
Koi merfolk, despite having so little mana that they cannot transform into humans to walk on land, have an extremely long lifetime.
Since the castle was built, she has seen emperors rise and fall, and often chatted with the young princes. In Ten's reign, with new laws put in place, the emperor himself knelt carefully at the shore of the lake in the gardens, and explained to her that she has the choice, if she wishes, to leave.
That beast people had the same rights as humans in his new laws, and that if she was unhappy, he could send her anywhere. Chip thought long and hard, and decided that she did quite like her lovely home, but she wanted to surf!
